Let’s break it down.
A + B = C
A = the standards, the basics, the fundamentals that are the necessary root of everything. This is where most schools stop because, well, they’ve ‘taught to the test’ and that’s their goal. At The Promontory, on the other hand, we’re just getting started.
B = The Promontory model takes those foundational skills and concepts, even while they are in their infancy, and applies them to real-world challenges, solutions, ideas, notions, and creativity. The student chooses their path of inquiry – either independently or with a like-minded group of teammates. Everything is done with interdisciplinary weaving. Empathy and service learning enter the mix. Math, science, social studies, language arts, arts and humanities, are no longer separated; they become one. All day, every day. Our teachers guide, our students blossom. Everyone’s happy! And the kids won’t even notice that the way they are learning and synthesizing and creating and confidently presenting is leading to infallible readiness for all of the ‘big tests’ in high school.
C = The Promontory student enters high school (once we unfurl our high school program in 2026), or college, or their first big opportunity, with more than knowledge. They walk in with confidence in their voice; the ability to think critically and communicate clearly; with a mind trained to find solutions, not just memorize answers; with real experience applying academic learning to local and global challenges; with a respect for deadlines, for quality, for themselves, and for the dignity of others.
The Promontory student is not just ‘prepared’. They’re seriously ready – to lead, to collaborate, to create, and to thrive.

This is the kind of student colleges remember. The kind of intern startups fight to hire. The kind of future adult who already knows how to make a difference and to traverse any future landscapes with confidence and skill.

Because TPA Alpines didn’t just show up and sit through classes. They climbed The Promontory. And everyone will take notice.

Core Academics & Beyond
How the Day is Structured
Below, we discuss our Live Full School Day tier. Our other tiers, with self-paced access, work off of the same curriculum, and expectations remain high across every tier.
Every day at The Promontory is carefully designed to provide students with a balanced, immersive, and engaging learning experience. Unlike traditional schools, we don’t separate learning into disconnected chunks—everything is interdisciplinary and deeply connected. And to our async parents, as our program is unique, future-forward, and globally oriented, you will literally be learning right alongside your student! This becomes a family affair!
We’re giving a public preview of the daily schedule. Though they are not embedded in the schedule, we take regular ‘brain breaks’ to moderate screen time. Core subjects will remain the same from module to module, but the non-core courses do change every six weeks.
Live School Day Module One Preview
Mondays and Wednesdays – Module One

Tuesdays and Thursdays – Module One

Fridays – Modules One through Seven

What Will Your Child Actually Learn?
To answer this in brief, we’re giving a public preview of ‘Life On Land’, the first of seven modules. Each module dovetails into the next, right on through a marvelously growth-oriented school year.
Async and DIY tier parents – we will work directly with you to ensure that you are well-armed and confident that your student will receive the same powerful education.
🔹 Module One: Life on Land
🔄 As always, we integrate Standards-based learning in all core subjects, while examining how they work as interdisciplinary parts of a conceptual whole.
Our mantra is, ‘Deep Learning Through Meaningful Application of All Learned Skills and Concepts, All Day, Every Day.’
🌍 Core Themes: Global Challenges & Solutions, ecosystems, global citizenship
🛠 Key Skills: Systems thinking, storytelling, interdisciplinary SDG learning
🎯 Big Projects: Multimedia presentations, hands-on research, personal sustainability plans
Every Promontory student starts with Module One, an immersive introduction to:
✔ How to present your findings with confidence and visual mastery.
✔ How to think like an innovator.
✔ How to research and problem-solve like an expert, both independently and as part of a team.
And just like that, your student has already jumped ahead of their peers in traditional schools.
The Future Won’t Wait. Neither Should Your Child’s Education.
At The Promontory Academy, we don’t just prepare students for the future—we prepare them to lead it. Our research-backed, future-focused program is designed for students who want to engage deeply with the world, solve real problems, and develop the skills that matter most.
What the Experts Say About Education’s Future
Leading futurists warn that traditional schooling is outdated and failing to keep pace with the world’s rapid changes. Experts like Sir Ken Robinson, Sinead Bovell, and Tony Wagner emphasize the urgent need for:
✅ Personalized, Competency-Based Learning – Every student learns differently, and rigid, standardized education is no longer effective.
✅ Skills Over Memorization – With AI handling routine knowledge, students must master adaptability, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
✅ Entrepreneurial & Global Mindset – Future leaders won’t just consume information; they’ll build, create, and innovate.
✅ Technology Integration – Schools that don’t embrace AI, real-world applications, and interdisciplinary learning will fall behind.
✅ Agility & Adaptability – Education must move at the speed of change. Stale, pre-packaged curriculum providers cannot keep up.
What Sets The Promontory Apart?
🚀 Real-World Learning – Our curriculum evolves in real time to match global trends, technological breakthroughs, and sustainability challenges. Your child won’t learn from outdated textbooks—they’ll learn from the world as it changes.
💡 Entrepreneurship & Leadership – Students don’t just study business—they build, create, and innovate. Through hands-on projects and expert mentorship, they develop an entrepreneurial mindset that prepares them for any career path.
🌎 Global Guest Speakers – Our weekly and Friday guest speakers connect students with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, and change-makers who are shaping the future right now.
⚡ Agile & Future-Proof – Unlike large, corporate-style online schools that rely on pre-packaged, static curricula, Promontory is built to adapt. If a major shift happens in AI, climate policy, or global economics, we teach it next week.
📅 Modular Structure for Maximum Adaptability – Our six-week modules allow us to pivot quickly, ensuring that students engage with the most relevant, cutting-edge material while maintaining deep learning and mastery.
🎯 Interdisciplinary Approach – We integrate subjects in meaningful ways, eliminating artificial silos. Students learn how math, science, history, and the arts connect to the real world, and to one another, to drive innovation.

If you are looking for a traditional diploma mill with easy-pass, archaic education, this isn’t it.
If you are looking for a transformative, cutting-edge education that ensures your child is ready for anything, we welcome you to The Promontory Academy Online.

Wait…What About Assessment?
Our assessment approach is varied and student-driven, incorporating self-assessments alongside rubric-based evaluations that clearly outline the criteria for achieving success. This is true for ALL of our tier levels. We mean business, regardless of tier. With our school year divided into six uniquely themed modules, each module includes a range of formative assessments across subjects and concludes with an interdisciplinary summative presentation. Students choose a theme-aligned, interdisciplinary topic to showcase their learning to instructors, parents, and peers.
Fully detailed, holistic reports are provided to parents at the end of each module (even for self-paced learners). This stress-free, supportive process allows instructors to mentor students as they build their summative presentations, fostering deeper understanding and confidence. The final school-year module, the Capstone or ‘Defense of Learning’ module, requires an extensive topic-based, multimedia showcase presentation, bringing the student’s favorite year-long concepts and skills into play. This final presentation serves as the student’s ultimate grade-level portfolio.
