Founder’s Message
Hi. My name’s Robert.
I’m in my 33rd year in education, both at home and abroad — Los Angeles, Seattle, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, South Korea, the Republic of Georgia. I’ve worked in AP and Cambridge schools, public and private, massive districts and remote startups. I’ve opened schools in places most people haven’t heard of, from megacities to quiet mountain towns.
Like most teachers, I never did it for the money. I stayed because I love it. Because it’s always been about the students, and about constantly asking:
How can I do this better?How can I make learning more meaningful?
I began sketching out The Promontory Academy five years ago during the chaos of the pandemic and the military coup in Myanmar. I’d spent decades seeing what didn’t work in education, and I knew no one was fixing it. So I built something better. From scratch.
No gimmicks. No glossy marketing. Just real learning that engages, excites, and empowers students. I poured myself into this vision.
I have kept tuition low on purpose, because access matters. I’ve studied best practices from Finland to Singapore, from Tokyo to Boston. I’ve researched dozens of education articles and theories from the best future-of-education minds in the world today. I’ve recruited a small but exceptional global staff.
As founder, president, and lead designer, my name is stamped on every aspect of what we do, how we do it, and why it matters. When you reach out, you talk to me. And I will always stand behind what we do.
The Promontory Academy is the new face of affordable, globally relevant, deeply human education. We aren’t riding the wave – we’ve created it.
